"The Old Lady"

Today (January 28, 2011) is our 5th wedding anniversary.  It started out as a happy and joyful day.  Lori was going to cook supper for us and I had taken the night off from work.  Deb and I looked forward to spending the day together. Gypsy had not been doing well and seemed to be getting worse so Deb scheduled an appointment for her at the vet's office.  Not too long after they'd left, Deb called to say they would be putting Gypsy down as she had severe heart problems that nothing could be done to fix.  Lori and I raced to the vet's to say final goodbyes to a wonderful dog and integral member of our family.  We all knew her time was drawing near but it was still a shock for it to be so immediate.

Gypsy was rescued from an abusive man many years ago.  She and Deb forged an unbreakable bond over the years that lasted a lifetime.  When let out in the morning, Gypsy would often lie all day in her special place under a tree waiting through the heat of Summer and the cold of Winter for Deb to come home.  The greeting Deb got was special and reserved solely for her.  Even in Gypsy's last days (she'd turned 15 on January 3rd) this never changed. Gypsy was Deb's favorite among all our animals and she is understandably heartbroken.  However, Gypsy was loved by all and she's missed tremendously.
